Fun new take on reg­gae

Fa­mous for their fresh har­monies, fun and con­scious reg­gae, this mother and daugh­ters trio cre­ate the pow­er­ful sound that is NRG Ris­ing.

The unique sound will come to Toko­roa Cos­mopoli­tan Club on July 16.

NRG Ris­ing’s unique, clear, fe­male sound and har­monies fill a niche mar­ket, women in reg­gae in New Zealand and their up­beat, fun and friendly on­stage per­sona leaves au­di­ences feel­ing up­lifted.

The group have been on the mu­sic scene for around two years and per­formed over 70 gigs around New Zealand.

NRG Ris­ing was founded by Benita Tahuri, her two daugh­ters, Ana­hera-Pono Tahuri-Whakatope and Honey Tahuri-Whakatope and part­ner Bevin Hira. The fifth core band mem­ber is Trin­ity Blake.

As their name NRG (New Reg­gae Gen­er­a­tion) sug­gests, this is a new wave, of NRG Ris­ing fresh, fun and reg­gae.
