The Lions Club of Toko­roa City held their an­nual changeover of of­fi­cers on July 3 at the Toko­roa Club.

Al­lan Wil­son of Host Lions han­dled the in­duc­tion while en­ter­tain­ing the gather­ing with his quick wit.

Jon Welch is the new pres­i­dent, re­plac­ing Bob En­nion.

A much sur­prised Doug Blair was awarded Lion of the Year for his con­stant ef­forts on be­half of City Lions.

South Waikato Mayor Neil Sin­clair was the key­note speaker.

He de­tailed the many growth op­por­tu­ni­ties blos­som­ing in the district.

He then re­vealed that Toko­roa would be one of only seven ar­eas to test a new youth pro­gramme de­signed to keep at-risk chil­dren aged 12 to 17 in school.

Mr Blair con­cluded the event, as­sum­ing the role of Tail Twister, leav­ing all with tears of laugher and much lighter wal­lets.
