All booked up for a good cause

The Sal­va­tion Army is hold­ing a mas­sive book sale, with all money go­ing back into the com­mu­nity.

Toko­roa Sal­va­tion Army Corp Leader, Rob Raven is over­whelmed by the num­ber of books the group has been gifted.

‘‘We have more than 50,000 books in this room. I am amazed; these books when sold will help so many fam­i­lies in our com­mu­nity.’’

There will be over 30 cat­e­gories rang­ing from New Zealand, cook­ing, to do it your self.

The Sal­lies are also look­ing to ex­change one child’s book for a can of food.

‘‘This will also be a way to re­plen­ish our de­plet­ing stocks in the food bank,’’ Mr Raven said.

Mr Raven wanted ex­press the army’s sin­cere grat­i­tude to those who have helped make the fair pos­si­ble.

‘‘ We would like to thank Blue Pa­cific Min­er­als, Van Dyks, Wal­ter Pel­i­can, South Waikato News, the Toko­roa Com­mu­nity Pro­ba­tion team and the Sal­va­tion Army corp mem­bers. These won­der­ful busi­nesses and in­di­vid­u­als have helped make it pos­si­ble.’’

Those want­ing to help vol- un­teer dur­ing the book fair can con­tact Rob Raven on 027 511 3195. The Sal­va­tion Army Book Fair will be held from Septem­ber 15 to 17 at the old Count­down build­ing on the cor­ner of Lo­gan St and Man­ner­ing St. It will open from 10am to 7pm on Thurs­day and Fri­day and to 5pm on Satur­day. Eft­pos will be avail­able.
