Suc­cess story un­folds be­fore her

Pu­taruru Col­lege stu­dent Dana Goodacre is writ­ing her very own suc­cess story.

The year 13 stu­dent has been recog­nised for her writ­ing abil­ity and po­ten­tial as a sci­en­tist.

Ear­lier this year Dana won the Shake­speare Globe Cen­tre New Zealand/ Ida Gaskin Shake­speare Es­say Com­pe­ti­tion at the Univer­sity of Otago Sheilah Winn Shake­speare Fes­ti­val.

As a re­sult she be­came a mem­ber of the New Zealand So­ci­ety of Au­thors.

Dana’s win­ning three-page es­say dis­cussed the play Mac­beth.

‘‘I stud­ied it (Mac­beth) when I was in year 11.

Dana was also se­lected to at­tend the Nano Sci­ence Camp at Massey Univer­sity in Palmer­ston North in Jan­uary where she joined 12 other tal­ented young­sters from around New Zealand.

While Dana is un­sure which ter­tiary in­sti­tu­tion she will at­tend next year, she ad­mits that she will study for a Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence de­gree.
