Women en­cour­aged to give box­ing train­ing a go

Box­ing train­ing has be­come hugely pop­u­lar and Toko­roa Box­ing Club is keen to sup­port those who are will­ing to give it a go.

Women-only nights are to be run each Tues­day from 5.30 to 7pm start­ing on Oc­to­ber 4. This adult women-only class will cost just $5 per night. For de­tails phone Lee at the Sport Waikato of­fice on 886 9002. Touch in Pu­taruru Sec­ondary school stu­dents are in­vited to have a go at af­ter-school turbo touch each Tues­day in Septem­ber fin­ish­ing on Oc­to­ber 4.

The ses­sions will be run by Sport Waikato’s Ki­wiS­port touch of­fi­cer, Rachel Wi­keepa, from 3.30 to 4.30pm at Pu­taruru Col­lege.

E Grade National Su­per­champs

Eight men’s and eight women’s E grade squash teams, from as far north as Kamo and south as


Teams Khan­dal­lah, will bat­tle it out this week for the ti­tle of E grade national club team su­per­champs at the Toko­roa Squash Club. Play runs from 9am on Wed­nes­day through to the fi­nals start­ing on Satur­day Septem­ber 17 at 3pm.

Good luck to the Pu­taruru women’s team who won the right to rep­re­sent the Bay of Plenty re­gion in the com­pe­ti­tion.

It will be a full cal­en­dar for the Toko­roa Squash Club through­out the four days of com­pe­ti­tion, so head out and check out the go­ings-on and sup­port all in­volved with the su­per­champs. Pu­taruru Health & Fit­ness Cen­tre There is a lot planned to be go­ing on in Pu­taruru at Pu­taruru Fit­ness Cen­tre in Princes Street for those in­ter­ested in get­ting fit for sum­mer.

Cur­rently classes in­clude ju­nior box­ing on a Tues­day and Thurs­day from 6pm, se­nior box­ing on a Thurs­day from 6pm and women’s car­dio classes on a Wed­nes­day at 6.30pm. All ses­sions are led by trained in­struc­tors of box­ing and fit­ness.

Fur­ther classes in yoga and step/skip will be started in Novem­ber. Tennis will also be run each Satur­day from 9am through­out sum­mer.
