Women encouraged to give boxing training a go
Boxing training has become hugely popular and Tokoroa Boxing Club is keen to support those who are willing to give it a go.
Women-only nights are to be run each Tuesday from 5.30 to 7pm starting on October 4. This adult women-only class will cost just $5 per night. Touch in Putaruru Secondary school students are invited to have a go at after-school turbo touch each Tuesday in September finishing on October 4.
The sessions will be run by Sport Waikato’s KiwiSport touch officer, Rachel Wikeepa, from 3.30 to 4.30pm at Putaruru College.

E Grade National Superchamps
Eight men’s and eight women’s E grade squash teams, from as far north as Kamo and south as
Teams Khandallah, will battle it out this week for the title of E grade national club team superchamps at the Tokoroa Squash Club. Play runs from 9am on Wednesday through to the finals starting on Saturday September 17 at 3pm.
Good luck to the Putaruru women’s team who won the right to represent the Bay of Plenty region in the competition.
It will be a full calendar for the Tokoroa Squash Club throughout the four days of competition, so head out and check out the goings-on and support all involved with the superchamps. Putaruru Health & Fitness Centre There is a lot planned to be going on in Putaruru at Putaruru Fitness Centre in Princes Street for those interested in getting fit for summer.
Currently classes include junior boxing on a Tuesday and Thursday from 6pm, senior boxing on a Thursday from 6pm and women’s cardio classes on a Wednesday at 6.30pm. All sessions are led by trained instructors of boxing and fitness.
Further classes in yoga and step/skip will be started in November. Tennis will also be run each Saturday from 9am throughout summer.
