South Waikato News - - ENTERTAINMENT -

One of the most popular groups in New Zealand will perform in Tokoroa this month.

Ardijah will perform at the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club on September 23.

The group, from Auckland, formed in 1979 and spent the early part of the 1980s playing the Auckland social scene, honing their skills as a covers band.

They released their first single in 1986, Give Me Your Number which was followed in 1987 with Your Love Is Blind.

Ardijah call their unique style poly-fonk and refers to their blending of Polynesian sounds such as Polynesian log drums and ukeleles with a rhythm and blues sound.

The South Waikato News has one double pass to give away. To go in the draw, tell us what year the group formed along with your name and contact details.

Submit your entry on the back of an envelope or email swaikato.editor@wrcn.co.nz.

ON THEIR WAY: Betty-Ann Monga and Rico Tali of Ardijah perform during the Te Ra o te Raukura festival at Te Whiti Park.
