New whiteboards on way
Whakamaru School is benefiting from the Transpower CommunityCare Fund after being selected for a $25,000 grant.
Principal Jill McArthur appreciates receiving the full amount they sought.
‘‘ We applied for a grant with Transpower because they donate to the communities affected by transmissions lines.’’
Ms McArthur was notified two weeks ago after applying for the grant in June.
The $25,000 from Transpower will be used to buy four interactive whiteboards, so each class will have one in it.
Ms McArthur also said her school was about to receive ultra-fast broadband.
‘‘It is a Ministry (of Education). So some schools aren’t getting that for another one to two years and we are getting it within the next six months.’’
