NZ mu­sos will be in the house

House of Shem will make the Toko­roa Cos­mopoli­tan Club their house next month when they per­form at the es­tab­lish­ment.

House of Shem, hail­ing from Wan­ganui, is one of New Zealand’s premier bands and has had songs fea­tured on the Con­scious Roots com­pi­la­tions.

The group, which in­cludes Carl Perkins, Te Omeka Perkins, Isa­iah Perkins, Kaya Web­ster, Alma Rei, Roy Venkataraman, Chris Niel­son and Karl Thomas, will per­form at the Toko­roa Cos­mopoli­tan Club on Novem­ber 12.

Their de­but al­bum Keep Ris­ing, dropped in May 2008, was re­leased again in April 2009 through­out Aus­tralia and Hawaii.

The group has toured Aus­tralia and New Zealand and was part of 2010 Ragga­muf­fin Mu­sic Fes­ti­val along­side Shaggy, Sly and Rob­bie, Ju­lian Mar­ley, Blue King Brown, Steel Pulse and Sean Kingston.

At the be­gin­ning of last year the group started record­ing their sec­ond al­bum Is­land Vi­bra­tion with en­gi­neer and pro­ducer Er­rol Brown who has worked with Al­ton El­lis, Bob Mar­ley and The Wail­ers, Gre­gory Isaacs, Peter Tosh and Ziggy Mar­ley. That al­bum was re­leased ear­lier this year.
