NZ musos will be in the house
House of Shem will make the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club their house next month when they perform at the establishment.
House of Shem, hailing from Wanganui, is one of New Zealand’s premier bands and has had songs featured on the Conscious Roots compilations.
The group, which includes Carl Perkins, Te Omeka Perkins, Isaiah Perkins, Kaya Webster, Alma Rei, Roy Venkataraman, Chris Nielson and Karl Thomas, will perform at the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club on November 12.
Their debut album Keep Rising, dropped in May 2008, was released again in April 2009 throughout Australia and Hawaii.
The group has toured Australia and New Zealand and was part of 2010 Raggamuffin Music Festival alongside Shaggy, Sly and Robbie, Julian Marley, Blue King Brown, Steel Pulse and Sean Kingston.
At the beginning of last year the group started recording their second album Island Vibration with engineer and producer Errol Brown who has worked with Alton Ellis, Bob Marley and The Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, Peter Tosh and Ziggy Marley. That album was released earlier this year.
