Fam­ily party lights kids’ day

The an­nual Toko­roa Light party was a great suc­cess with more than 1700 peo­ple at­tend­ing the free event.

The event or­gan­ised by the Toko­roa Min­istries As­so­ci­a­tion pro­vides a fun and safe al­ter­na­tive to Hal­loween.

The ac­tiv­i­ties in­cluded face paint­ing, colour­ing com­pe­ti­tions, stage show and an­i­mal tricks and a fancy dress com­pe­ti­tion. Each child re­ceived a siz­zled sausage, drink and a bag of good­ies.

Toko­roa Min­istries As­so­ci­a­tion chair­man Brian Hag­ger was im­pressed with the turnout.

‘‘With a crowd of 1700 peo­ple through the gate it gets bet­ter ev­ery year.

‘‘The kids had a ball, they are safe and off the street.

‘‘Thank you to ev­ery­one who do­nated their time or goods and ser­vices.’’

The Toko­roa Min­istries As­so­ci­a­tion would like to thank The Toko­roa Lions Club, Pulse En­ergy, SKIP strate­gies for kids, The South Waikato District Coun­cil and the 23 lo­cal firms for mak­ing the event pos­si­ble.

BEST DRESSED: Even adults lined up to be judged in the best dressed com­pe­ti­tion.

SU­PER HE­ROES: Caped cru­saders flew into ac­tion at the Light Party last week.

CUTE BUNNY: This lit­tle bunny found time to snooze dur­ing the fes­tiv­i­ties.
