Nature photo winners
South Waikato Camera Club recently held its annual Nature Study competition in four sections that included both prints and projected images.
The judge was Bruce Shanks of Auckland. Members were privileged to view a programme detailing Bruce’s journey in the art of making images.
These included some of his original formulas for monochrome processing, using all forms of positive materials for colour slides and culminating in his showing his three fellowship sets.
He was most instructive about what detail needs to be in nature pictures.
Club president Yvaan Adams won the monochrome projected image with a fabulous picture of a Hector’s dolphin leaping from the sea.
Roger and Margaret Brownsey won the colour trophies with a print of a pukeko head detail and a New Zealand kea in the snow respectively.
Ann Gilbert had a winning monochrome picture of a group of the black-handed spider monkeys.
