Archers hit tar­get to take on the world

Toa Ara Archery Club shoot­ers won the IBO Na­tion­als and qual­i­fied for the World Cham­pi­onships.

Af­ter a gru­elling two-day shoot in the Dar­gav­ille bush at the end of Oc­to­ber, the club mem­bers con­tin­ued to demon­strate the re­gion’s rep­u­ta­tion for pro­duc­ing great ath­letes.

The IBO is one of the big­gest in­ter­na­tional archery or­gan­i­sa­tions in the world and three first place divi­sion ti­tles were taken as well as two sec­ond places.

Chris­tine Fin­negan came sec­ond in the Women’s Re­curve Bow, Des Coe came sec­ond in the Men’s Long Bow, John Ben­nett was first in the Men’s Sighted Hunter, Dianne Turco came first in the Women’s Re­curve Bow and Bob Reed was sharper than the rest fin­ish­ing first in the Tra­di­tional Bow.
