Archers hit target to take on the world
Toa Ara Archery Club shooters won the IBO Nationals and qualified for the World Championships.
After a gruelling two-day shoot in the Dargaville bush at the end of October, the club members continued to demonstrate the region’s reputation for producing great athletes.
The IBO is one of the biggest international archery organisations in the world and three first place division titles were taken as well as two second places.
Christine Finnegan came second in the Women’s Recurve Bow, Des Coe came second in the Men’s Long Bow, John Bennett was first in the Men’s Sighted Hunter, Dianne Turco came first in the Women’s Recurve Bow and Bob Reed was sharper than the rest finishing first in the Traditional Bow.
