Mr Hill said with the festive season fast approaching, homes that were not locked became a target for opportun- istic thieves. ‘‘People need to be more security conscious. Lock it or lose it, it’s simple.’’

The Tokoroa Playcentre was broken into and a number of items were taken, if you have any information about this offence please contact the Tokoroa Police on 885 0100.

With White Ribbon Day this Friday Mr Hill said it was a timely reminder that violence against women was not okay. Mr Hill said the festive season usually saw family violence escalate. ‘‘Sorting out a problem with your fists is not the answer, the festive season is about bringing families together not tearing them apart.’’
