Win to see pi­ano recital

Tal­ented pi­anist Cherry Ngan will per­form at The Plaza in Pu­taruru on Novem­ber 30 at 7pm.

Cherry first started learn­ing pi­ano at the age of five achieved her sec­ond diploma in mu­sic at 16.

In 2006, at the age of 12, she gained the high­est mark in New Zealand for her grade eight pi­ano exam.

Cherry’s cham­ber mu­sic group was also cho­sen to com­pete in the National Cham­ber Mu­sic Fi­nals twice.

In re­cent years, Cherry has won many no­table com­pe­ti­tions such as The Lions Club of Te Awa­mutu Recital Class, the Te Awa­mutu Mozart Pi­ano Recital, the Tau­ranga Ma­jor Pianoforte Recital Class, the No­rah How­ells Recital Award; as well as the North Shore Pi­ano Con­certo Com­pe­ti­tion.

Last year Cherry was awarded the ti­tle of Most Promis­ing Pi­anist in the New Zealand Young Per­former of the Year Awards.

Cherry per­formed as a soloist with the Trust Waikato Sym­phony Or­ches­tra and she also per­formed with the Aotea Youth Or­ches­tra ear­lier this year.

The 17 year old re­cently grad­u­ated from Hill­crest High School.

She stud­ies the pi­ano with tu­tor Kather­ine Austin.

Cherry Ngan will per­form in Pu­taruru this month.
