Tokoroa set for festive weekend
Tokoroa is gearing up for what is possibly the town’s biggest weekend this year.
Tokoroa’s Big Weekend will be held on December 3 and 4 and will include the Christmas Parade, A& P Show and Carols in the Park.
A& P and Big Weekend advertising/ trade space co- ordinator Graeme Earles said this year was the fourth year of the Big Weekend.
The Christmas Parade will begin at 11am on December 3, the A&P Show will start at 9am with Carols in the Park being held on December 4 from 6pm.
The Christmas Parade will begin from Kindergarten Park and will move from Bridge St to Leith Place.
‘‘The parade will have a lot of different trucks, tractors, walkers, kids in costume, stilt walkers and clowns.’’
Mr Earles said the A&P Show was in its 74th year and would feature cattle sections, horse events, trade space, a home industry section, miniature cattle, pet centre, the golden axe wood chopping competitions, Miss Showgirl, Miss Princess and Miss Junior Princess.
Mr Earles has been part of the festivities for nine years.
‘‘(It’s) been good. We’ve had some really good weather, we have had some rubbish weather leading up to the show.’’
