Some Forest View High School students have returned from a whirlwind trip to Hawaii.

The school’s Polynesian culture group Polinetia Fa’atasi, includes 42 students who spent four nights at Waikiki where they shared their talents with local people.

While there they visited Pear Harbour’s Arizona Memorial and performed at the Polynesian Culture Centre in Laie.

According to Forest View teacher Jade Beale the group had looked forward to working with Nonosina, a renowned Tahitian performing arts group, which has two former Tokoroa residents in their ranks.

‘‘ It is an experience that our students will not forget; it is about encouraging them to aim high and knowing that hard work and determination can take you anywhere you want to go,’’ Miss Beale said.

Amongst the talented travellers was Luciana Diaz, the school’s year 12 American Field Service exchange student from Argentina who had not imagined getting to Hawaii when she arrived earlier this year.
