Alt-pop rockers off track

South Waikato News - - ENTERTAINMENT -

There was a time when these Californian alt-pop rockers were the next big thing – 2007’s Hang Me Up To Dry prompted comparisons with the White Stripes and huge puffs from both sides of the indie fence – but now that seems as long ago as searching for reds under the bed.

Gone are the sharp edges and, thanks to Kings of Leon producer Jacquire King, their third album has a polished radio-friendly finesse – much to its detriment.

It’s as if the kids are playing at grown-ups.
