April 6, 2011 Adored chef turns tal­ent to sausages : Pu­taruru peo­ple were treated to a de­li­cious sausage siz­zle by none other than Pu­taruru’s Masterchef New Zealand ex­traor­di­naire Cameron Pet­ley.

Last Fri­day Mr Pet­ley sup­ported Count­down Pu­taruru in its bid to raise funds for the Sal­va­tion Army’s Christchurch re­lief fund.

Mr Pet­ley, orig­i­nally from Toko­roa, was keen to jump on board to raise funds. ‘‘I re­ally wanted to help out where I could,’’ he said. The fa­ther of five could not spill any in­side in­for­ma­tion about the show other than say­ing it had been an ‘‘awe­some life chang­ing ex­pe­ri­ence’’. April 13, 2011 Pair opt for new look Pu­taruru teen Kelsi Mered­ith showed no fear as hair­dresser Lorna Jensen made moves to cut her hair on Fri­day.

Kelsi was sup­ported by her mother Lisa Mered­ith and her friend Sa­man­tha Catch­pole who also went un­der the blade to sup­port the Leukemia and Blood Foun­da­tion.

‘‘I said good­bye to my hair, I washed it and brushed it a cou­ple of times,’’ Kelsi said.

Sa­man­tha, who was in­spired to shave af­ter see­ing her friend com­mit to the cause, has a fam­ily link to can­cer.
