Tokoroa golf in full swing for a busy new year
The Tokoroa Golf Club is all geared up and ready to go for the 2012 season.
On Saturday, January 7 the qualifying of the Summer Cup and Summer Mug matchplay competition were held with Liam Mckain taking top honours with an impressive 66 nett which included an ‘‘Eagle 2’’ on the par- four 9th. Brendan Morgan qualified second with a 70 nett, Malcolm Buckley third on a 71 and Mike Fiddis fourth on 73 on a countback from Shirley Buckley, Jet Pihama and Ian Christie.

Shop Scramble winner for the day was Brendan Morgan with 38 stableford points and two twos.
Vets Golf has continued throughout the Christmas and new year break with some impressive scoring and regular results will be posted as they come to hand.
Wednesday, January 18 sees the resumption of Twilight Golf which will continue until the end of daylight saving, inquiries can be made to twilight convenor Shirley Buckley on 886 9789.
Sunday, January 22 will see the first of five open tournaments being sponsored by Tokoroa New World with funds from this first event going towards club representative teams.
On Sunday, January 29 the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club will hold its Closed Tournament.
February 11 sees the official opening of the club’s season, comprising of the presentation of trophies and prizes for Summer Cup and Summer Mug winners and runners-up.
This will be followed by the Russell Grace Spoon ( Mixed Pairs Combined Stableford) and $ 10 nett.
The women’s weekday opening will be held on February 14.
