Meet your neighbours

South Waikato News - - NEWS - By HEATHER GABY

Do you know your neighbours?

We are all busy nowadays and seem not to have time to stop and chat over the fence to friends and neighbours.

This summer is the time to make a change. Neighbourhood parties are planned for February at various parks in Tokoroa so you can get to know your neighbours. These will be held every Friday evening from 5.30pm to 7pm in February and two in March.

Parks will be Elizabeth Park, Kindergarten Reserve, Papanui Reserve, Maureen Seipolt Reserve, Glenkill Park and Lake Moananui.

People in those neighbourhoods will receive an invite to the parties which will include a sausage sizzle, bouncy castle, music and games. Regional Sports Awards The Brian Perry Waikato Regional Sports Awards evening is at the Claudelands Event Centre in Hamilton on Thursday, February 2 at 6pm. Tickets from the Sport Waikato office in Hamilton for $75 a person; phone 07 858 5388. Guest speaker is former All Black Grant Fox. Austswim Teacher PD Still time to register for the Water Safety New Zealand swim teacher professional development day to be held at the Indoor Pools in Tokoroa on Wednesday, January 25. The course, from 9am to 5pm, is free for two teachers from each school in the district. The course is a great refresher for those who currently teach children to swim, or will offer ideas for those new in the role. With our high drowning rate this summer, this course is a must.

Phone or text me on 0274 715 968 to register your participation. Early Woggle Classes Restart Early morning woggle classes restarted this week at the Indoor Pools in Tokoroa. Classes start at 6am on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Head to the pools for your early morning exercise.

Other aquatic exercise classes will restart once school resumes in early February.
