Mundi’s global groove at The Plaza
The global sound of Mundi will be heard at The Plaza in Putaruru next month.
Virtuoso flautist and composer Tamara Smith leads the group and is supported by master musicians on sax, banjo, bass and world percussion, as well as voice. The group will perform in Putaruru on February 17.
Between them, Mundi’s musicians have travelled through almost every continent on the globe.
Inspired by the music of North Africa, the Amazon Basin and beyond, the group’s aim is to use these experiences to create their own unique glo- bal sound. Mundi’s debut album, Serendipity was recorded in collaboration with traditional Sri Lankan artists.
Their music has featured on the Air New Zealand play list, on Australia’s ABC network and showcased on Radio NZ Concert’s Global Sounds.
The South Waikato News has two double passes to give away.
Simply tell us the name of Mundi’s debut album along with your name and contact details to go into the draw.
You can either submit your entry on the back of an envelope or email swaikato.editor@ wrcn.co.nz.
