Police seek advice on laying charges
It could be several weeks before any charges are laid over a bar fight that ended the life of a Putaruru man. Detective Sergeant Kevan Verry, of Tokoroa, said police were seeking legal advice on what charge to lay against the man they believe punched Fitu Leau, 71, who then fell and hit his head. That legal advice could take several weeks, Mr Verry said. The assault occurred at Putaruru Sports Bar on January 7. Mr Leau died in Waikato Hospital.
