Council wants your ear

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

South Waikato District Council’s Long Term Plan is open for public consultation from Wednesday, March 14. This plan takes a strategic look at the next 10 years, focussing on job creation and district promotion as its two strategic objectives.

The proposed rate revenue increase this year is 5.95 per cent. More than 4 per cent of this can be attributed to the reduction in rates subsidy which was signalled some years ago and operational costs once the South Waikato Sport and Events Centre opens.

The plan also looks at major projects ( like roading), new initiatives, operations (day-to-day activities), levels of service and how everything is funded.

The council produces a full 10-year plan and a summary document. The summary document is designed to help everyone understand a little more about what the council does, how it functions and its focus over the next decade. It is this summary the council hopes you will read. It will be inserted into the South Waikato News in the issue of Wednesday March 14 , so keep an eye out for it.

Public consultation opens on March 14 and closes on Friday, April 13.
