An exhibition of student art at Amisfield School has impressed parents.

All students have worked hard over the past term to create a diverse range of art work which included Ta Moko, computer art, sunflowers and work depicting the Treaty of Waitangi.

South Waikato News spoke to Ethan Smits from Room 4, at Amisfield who created art about the Treaty of Waitangi.

‘‘We learnt a whole bunch about Hongi Hika and Hone Heke; did you know they’re two different people?’’ Ethan asked the South Waikato News reporter.

When asked what his thoughts were on the treaty Ethan knew exactly what he would have done.

‘‘ If I was a Maori chief back then, I would have done what Waikato did and I wouldn’t have signed it,’’ he said.
