‘‘I was buzzed we got a place at the end of the day,’’ Connor said. ‘‘ We won a $ 250 Rock Shop voucher.’’

The band competed against 50 other bands.

John, who is keyboard player and back-up vocalist said their dream was to one day make it big.

‘‘ We don’t want to end up playing at our school for 20 years or doing high school balls when we are old ; I suppose the first step would be getting our songs on the radio. But in the meantime we are open to playing gigs.’’

All Of A Kind do not want to be nailed to one genre of music.

‘‘We play any and everything, not just one genre, we have a bit of rock, reggae anything we can play we will.’’ Antonio the bass guitarist said.

The band plays only original music which includes City Lights, If Only and Rain is pouring.

Lead guitarist James who created the lyrics said the songs were about experiences.

‘‘ City Lights is like when you go to Auckland when you’re little and you see the lights and it’s like, wow. If Only is a dedication to a girl and Rain is Pouring is a meta- phor for problems.’’ The band have a Facebook fan page and a website: allofakind.weebly.com.
