Let’s close alleyways

South Waikato News - - OPINION -

I was so disappointed to see the front page of (a national paper) on Saturday, June 30. There we were on (the front) page but what a negative impact that article and those scum bags are going to have on our community.

The residents of this town have worked tirelessly over the years to project a positive image of our town culture here in Tokoroa – united, supportive, tolerant, to name but a few.

Alleyways have been a thorn in the town residents’ side for many years. Originally designed for the shift workers to have easy access to the bus stops they have now passed their used-by dates and seem to only be good for rubbish, graffiti and latenight attacks on innocent people. Come on council, let’s support these people in Weka Place, the police and close all the alleyways in Tokoroa. As a bonus it will save the council dollars from having to clean up the graffiti broken glass and rubbish that seems to be a permanent fixture in them. P Harrison
