Blue skies smile at golf scramble
There were nothing but blue skies on Wednesday for the Vet’s Scramble at the Tokoroa Golf Club.
Robin Ireland took top honours with 37 stableford points, followed closely by Tom Hayes, John Kawenga and Dennis Dugan all with 36 points.
Alan Foster played a good round, also winning the longest putt of the day.
Despite the best efforts of all those competing, no twos were scored so the prize pool jackpots.
Quarter finals of the Men’s Club Champs were played on Saturday. Grey skies and a sharp breeze had no adverse effect on a high standard of golf.
Several epic matchplay battles deserve a mention: Darren Costar v Tom Hayes, John Bartley v Henry Skelton all played 19 holes in the fiercely contested intermediate grade.
A stamina- testing 20 holes were played between club president Barry Preece and Lions president Jon Welch, with Jon eventually victorious. Congratulations to all who competed on Saturday – your participation made for an exciting day.
