The core philosophy of Waikato Milking Systems is design innovation, chief executive Dean Bell says.

This company is taking great ideas to a whole new level, coming up with new products and technologies for the dairy sector every year.

The business turns over about $80 million a year and exports to about 30 countries, with the top five being South Africa, China, Britain, the United States and Australia.

Key factors in the international success are designs and products that are based in simplicity and reliability, Mr Bell said.

‘‘Most of the European and American technology is quite complex, can be expensive to maintain and requires more frequent servicing.
