Over the past few weeks we have been very informed by SWN about Council v Carrie King and the cost involved to us the ratepayer. As I drive down Baird Rd almost every day it irks me every time I drive over the damaged tarseal, patched up with bitumen opposite the Kowhai St entrance. The road is a shameful mess. The same when heading north over the bridge on SH1, the potholes and ruts are so big that one has to drive to avoid them.
Not a lot bugs me but when I read about the Council v Carrie King I can feel my temp rising simply because we are paying for this stupidity. I feel sad for the family who lost their pet rabbit and I don’t know the dog or its history but I know Carrie very well and the council would be outnumbered by all the animal lovers and owners if they are trying to insinuate that Carrie is not a responsible animal owner.
The council needs to reconsider its actions knowing full well how passionate Carrie is about all animals and their welfare. Does the public realise the council has overspent an estimated $500k on the budget blowout for the tendering job a couple of months ago, things are being kept very quite lately? Someone should lose their job/s over that blunder! The council needs to stop being so pig-headed and stop wasting our money.
