South Waikato News - - OPINION -

I am amazed and disgusted to read the mayor and councillors’ decision to continue court action against Mrs King. The so-called meeting behind closed doors sounds more like the Mad Hatters tea party. How can their decision be justified when it’s going to cause even more expense to ratepayers in this bad economic climate.

The council seems to stumble from one disaster to another and learn nothing from the mistakes made.

If Mr Sinclair and the councillors were responsible for fronting up with the money being paid out for inept decisions, I’m sure they would think twice. It’s so easy to be cavalier with other people’s money.

Instead of being hounded by the council, I think Mrs King deserves a huge thank you for the hard work she and her family do for neglected and abandoned animals.

They work in the foulest of weather to care for these poor creatures and this is all at their own expense.

Mr Sinclair, save ratepayers any more legal expense and take up Mrs King’s offer to be responsible for Jimbo’s care and behaviour. The best outcome and a reasonable one. G Callaghhan,

Tokoroa
