Horses are costly to keep
In more than 20 years as an inspector I have never dealt with the number of horse issues I have in the past 12 months.
So if you want to own a horse or pony, check what your monthly costs will be:
Wormers – this is a must, not a maybe.
Hooves – a good farrier knows this is a must not a maybe. Imagine having to walk or stand on sore feet all the time.
Covers – not a must but will make everything much nicer for them.
Food – this can become expensive.
There are only so many paddocks unless you own a farm. Remember horses are high-maintenance, costly animals; just ask someone who owns one, or at your local pony club.
RESCUED: Mrs Hutchinson has continuing issues with horses, including two emaciated thoroughbreds that were rescued this year.
