Man in cus­tody af­ter rob­bery

An un­em­ployed Toko­roa man has been re­manded in cus­tody un­til Novem­ber 1 af­ter ap­pear­ing in Toko­roa Dis­trict Court last week charged with the two counts of kid­nap­ping and rob­bery.

The charges stem from the re­cent Am­ber Dairy rob­bery in Toko­roa and kid­nap­ping of the store’s own­ers.

The 24- year- old, who has name sup­pres­sion, is charged with un­law­fully de­tain­ing Hong Zhou and Ming Su with in­tent to hold them to ser­vice, and be­ing armed with a firearm and rob­bing the pair of $1380 and 10 pack­ets of Free­dom cig­a­rettes. The Novem­ber 1 hear­ing is for a bail ap­pli­ca­tion.
