Amisfield School wins chance to cut hair for charity
Local Project Energize coordinator Takimoana Morehu Cookson shaved off his locks for a good cause.
Curlz for Cans was an initiative that came in response to the high level of deprivation that was a focal point of the awareness around poverty.
Mr Morehu Cookson initiated a challenge to all South Waikato primary schools to donate a can for the winning incentive of being able to cut his hair.
The winning school, Amisfield Primary School, shaved off Mr Morehu Cookson’s hair recently.
In total about 1011 cans were received for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
‘‘As the physical activity and nutrition guy in the schools, I am always debating which kai is more healthy and which isn’t, but one thing is a certainty – no food in your puku is the worst option,’’ he said.
