Katchafire in town
Katchafire are back and ready to rock the South Waikato.
The concert, at the Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club, November 24, is expected to be a sellout event and one of the biggest acts on the club’s entertainment schedule.
Katchafire, one of New Zealand’s most prolific roots reggae bands, formed in 1997 in Hamilton as a Bob Marley tribute band and later began writing and performing their own songs.
During the course of the band’s career, four albums have been released: Revival in 2003, Slow Burning in 2005, Say What You’re Thinking in 2007 and 2010’s On the Road Again.
Katchafire began recording their third album, Say What You’re Thinking, as a seven-piece at Auckland’s York Street Studio toward the end of 2006.
Their music has also taken them around the world which has included Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and New Caledonia, and they have played at festivals with international reggae acts such as Mr Gang, Horace Andy, Moonraisers and Gentleman. They were the only Pacific act to tour with artists Arrested Development, The Wailers, Maxi Priest and UB40 as part of the 2008 Raggamuffin.
South Waikato News has one double pass to give away to the concert. Just tell us the name of the current band members, with your name and contact details to PO Box 89, Tokoroa 3444, or email email@example.com.
ON FIRE: Katchafire are coming to Tokoroa next month.
