Rising stars to perform
South Waikato Music Society’s final event for the year promises an impressive lineup of musical acts.
The audience will have the pleasure once again of hearing the students of the University of Waikato Conservatorium of Music, who are on the road with their end-of-year performance.
Recent emerging stars from the conservatorium include the Leonari Trio, who this year toured with Chamber Music NZ.
One of those new stars is Andrew Leathwick, who recently featured as soloist with Opus Orchestra in Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No 3, and was a semi-finalist last year in the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition in Australia.
South Waikato talent will also be on display with Timothy Gray and David Bowers-Mason performing Chopin and Gershwin respectively.
Both men have been part of the conservatorium’s Accelerando programme for young musicians.
NEW STAR: Andrew Leathwick
The concert is on November 10 at 7pm at The Plaza in Putaruru. Admission $20, students free.
