Ris­ing stars to per­form

South Waikato Mu­sic So­ci­ety’s fi­nal event for the year prom­ises an im­pres­sive lineup of mu­si­cal acts.

The au­di­ence will have the plea­sure once again of hear­ing the students of the Univer­sity of Waikato Con­ser­va­to­rium of Mu­sic, who are on the road with their end-of-year per­for­mance.

Re­cent emerg­ing stars from the con­ser­va­to­rium in­clude the Leonari Trio, who this year toured with Cham­ber Mu­sic NZ.

One of those new stars is An­drew Leath­wick, who re­cently fea­tured as soloist with Opus Or­ches­tra in Prokofiev’s Pi­ano Concerto No 3, and was a semi-fi­nal­ist last year in the Lev Vlassenko Pi­ano Com­pe­ti­tion in Aus­tralia.

South Waikato tal­ent will also be on dis­play with Ti­mothy Gray and David Bow­ers-Ma­son per­form­ing Chopin and Gersh­win re­spec­tively.

Both men have been part of the con­ser­va­to­rium’s Ac­celerando pro­gramme for young mu­si­cians.

The concert is on Novem­ber 10 at 7pm at The Plaza in Pu­taruru. Ad­mis­sion $20, students free.
