Up­grade gets a boost

Pu­taruru Ro­tary has iden­ti­fied Pu­taruru St John’s build­ing up­grade ef­forts as its ma­jor fo­cus of sup­port this year.

The club raised more than $13,000 for Pu­taruru’s St John up­grade plans through a gala din­ner fea­tur­ing guest speak­ers and power cou­ple, the Chiefs and the Magic CEOs, Gary and Sh­eryl Daw­son.

The theme for the evening was ‘‘ build­ing win­ning teams’’ and ac­cord­ing to Ro­tary mem­ber Martin Ben­nett, the Daw­sons felt they were in ‘‘ win­ning’’ com­pany with the Pu­taruru Ro­tary and St John or­gan­i­sa­tions.

The Daw­sons shared their views on win­ning teams and com­pli­mented St John’s for the way they form those teams.

A main meal and spe­cial Choco­late Camel­lia cafe dessert was en­joyed by the 150 sell out crowd.

They were wined and dined by the cadets and staff of Pu­taruru St John.

Puke­tarua pi­anist Matthew Mon­ti­eth and Pu­taruru rock­ers All of a Kind en­ter­tained gala guests along with the auc­tion­ing off of 28 spon­sored items un­der the guid­ance of Al­lied Farm­ers’ auc­tion­eer Steve Emile.

The sum of $7300 was raised from the auc­tion and a to­tal of $13,000 plus is ex­pected to grow.

Mr Ben­nett said the club was proud of the lo­cal com­mu­nity.
