School report delights

Tokoroa Central School’s Education Review Office report indicates years of significant progress for the primary school.

Receiving a three-year grade, which suggests another report will be conducted in three year’s time, the school was commended for its immense progress under the guidance of principal TinaMaree Hooper.

‘‘The main thing that we are really thrilled about is we really focussed on what needed to be done and the report reflects that,’’ she said.

‘‘I was really delighted that the review acknowledged that the principal, teachers and students are well supported by a dedicated team of support staff.

Mrs Hooper said the school is now in a period of stability.

The Education Review Office also noted that Tokoroa Central School has a high level of accountability for student achievement.

The report applauds Mrs Hooper for being a ‘‘visionary educational leader’’ who places students at the centre of all decisions.

‘‘Moving a school from being in a period of statutory management into a high- performing school does take an understanding of the change processes. I acknowledge those comments, however, I know that this isn’t something I can do on my own and that it takes a team.’’
