Parade joy

South Waikato News - - FRONT PAGE -

Therewere owls, a dash of fluorescent colours, Santa’s little helpers and wacky creatures, which helped to make Putaruru’s Annual Christmas Parade an overwhelming success.

The parade, which was held last Friday evening on Princes St, saw 30 creative floats take to the streets to entertain the hundreds of spectators.

Pride in Putaruru manager Lee Robertson said the float parade was hugely successful.

‘‘One comment to me afterwards was that it was the best one ever. I haven’t been around long enough to verify that,’’ he said.

Mr Robertson said 30 floats were involved along with 20 classic cars.

‘‘St John’s barbecued sausages and the Churches provided carol singers and all in all it went very well indeed. A great night.’’ The Christmas Parade winners were: Service: SPCA Commercial: The Honda Shop Youth: Putaruru Child Care Overall winner: Putaruru Child Care.

South Waikato’s festive moments are not over, with Mangakino holding its Christmas Parade this Saturday beginning at 11am in the town centre.
