Top cheese roller sought

As you saw in last week’s pa­per, the Hash House Har­ri­ers are run­ning a cheese rolling on Newell Rd. This is tak­ing place on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 5, at 5.30; the event will be sign­posted from State High­way 1.

There will be com­pe­ti­tions for men, women and chil­dren and a cham­pi­onship event for those who think they can win the ti­tle of ‘‘Cham­pion Cheese Roller’’.

There will also be a num­ber of other com­pe­ti­tions on the day in­clud­ing gum­boot throw­ing, egg toss­ing and a bit of golf. (Th­ese events will be $2 to en­ter).

A bar­be­cue will be op­er­at­ing with food for sale and the pro­ceeds from the day go to St John and Sport Waikato South Waikato. En­try for com­peti­tors is $10 per event and $5 for chil­dren (U14) – chil­dren do run up the hill.

This will be a fan­tas­tic evening of en­ter­tain­ment. Spec­ta­tors are wel­come to come along and en­joy the fes­tiv­i­ties; en­try by do­na­tion.

Over the Moon Cheese are very ex­cited about the event and are ma­jor spon­sors. They will be there on the day with their prod­ucts for all the cheese lovers. En­try forms are avail­able from Sport Waikato Of­fice, 22 Swanston St.

Bike Wise 2013 There are a num­ber of fan­tas­tic things planned for Bike Wise in South Waikato in­clud­ing moun­tain­bik­ing and road­bik­ing, util­is­ing our fan­tas­tic re­sources in­clud­ing the river trails and Cougar Park.
