Books re­turned to unit shelves

Ti­rau Pri­mary School is gear­ing up to re­veal its mul­ti­pur­pose li­brary unit.

Con­struc­tion on the li­brary’s up­grade, which in­cluded a dig­i­tal edit­ing suite, an ex­tended deck and dou­ble the floor space, be­gan last year.

‘‘We are just putting the fi­nal touches on the build­ing now, the books went back into the li­brary yes­ter­day and we are aim­ing for an open­ing tied in with a grand­par­ents’ and com­mu­nity day in week four, around the Fe­bru­ary 28,’’ prin­ci­pal Hamish Fen­emore said.

The cost of the mul­ti­pur­pose unit was es­ti­mated at $160,000.

Mr Fen­emor added the up­grade will meet the needs of the school’s in­creas­ing roll.

‘‘We want to have a space where we can fit our whole school,’’ he said.
