Putaruru president opens golfers’ prizegiving
Putaruru Golf Clubs president Tony Edgar opened the club’s prizegiving.
He congratulated members Allan McCarthy and Ted Bain for bringing back Thursday twilight golf, then passed prize giving over to club captain Phillip Kensington.
Mr Kensington handed out prizes for best combined teams of four net scores. The winning team with a score of 274 was Massy Rata, Wayne Mudford, Audrey Mathis and Hocky Howard, one shot back on 275 was the team of Elaine O’Leary, Mattie Rhoades, Ian Worth and Murray Hamilton. In third place on 277 were Mark Hopa, Tony Edgar, Roger Clothier and Wayne McDonald, on a count back in fourth was team Nathan Edgar, John Mathis, Lance Hay and Tony Muller. Individual net scores under 70 were Grant Kellson, Mike Flavell, Simon Denholm, Alan Wallace, Warren Craig and Butch Hamilton. Twos on the day where scored by Mark Hopa, Murray Hamilton and Ross Jellard.
The 9-hole twilight which was played last Thursday was won by David Hoyte with 22 points.

Justin Morris, Chantal Cassidy, Dominic Morris, Brendan Edgar, Eric Hill and Warwick White were named to compete in the first round of the Waikato Championship Pennants, to be played on Feb 17, at Matamata.
