The Tokoroa Golf Club Open Day was a huge success with beautiful weather, a free BBQ lunch and over 30 prizes given out on the day.

Sixty golfers assembled to see Club Patron Jack Baker kick off the season with a typically classy shot off the first tee.

Tokoroa Golf Club President Ian Christie declared the 2013 Golf Season officially open and golfers moved off to multiple tees for a shotgun start.

The format for Opening day is a Best Stableford Competition run in conjunction with the Russell Grace Trophy, a mixed pairs competition which is always popular. The players stayed cool even as the temperature rose, with some very impressive golf on display.

Prize giving was a relaxed event that began with the naming of the two teams who will represent Tokoroa in the Waikato Championship Pennants Competition.
