Watch champs defend titles
Need ideas for a family day out? Bring the family along to Tokoroa Memorial Sports Grounds, Mossop Rd this weekend and watch the Polocrosse national club championships.
Polocrosse, also known as ‘‘the king of the one horse sports’’ is a mixture of polo, lacrosse and netball. Six players in two teams, of three, called ‘‘chukkas’’ take turns on the field to compete against another team. The winners are the team who scores the most goals at the end of the match.
The Roke and Rockwood trophies are won with knockout games, until two teams come together in the final.
New Zealand’s best players will be competing for the Roke and Rockwood at the national club championships.
Come along and support Putaruru-Tirau as they defend their titles for both trophies for the 10th consecutive year.
Entry is free. Barbecue food and cold drinks will be available to buy. Finals will be played from lunchtime on Sunday.
WELL BACKED: Country music is alive and well in Putaruru with a recent event raising funds for the Putaruru Volunteer Fire Brigade.
