On February 3, the South Waikato Country Music Club converged on The Plaza to once again host their annual free concert fundraiser.

A line-up of 20 singers from the club kept an audience of 235 people well entertained.

The event raised $1160. Entry was free with afternoon tea provided.

All funds raised were donated to the Putaruru Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Club president Les Whyte was very proud of the job his club and their backing band achieved.

‘‘It was a brilliant day, our singers and band were great, our sponsors for our raffles were great and our committee and those involved behind the scenes, like our wonderful ladies who served afternoon tea and our sound man are all to be highly commended in being instrumental in putting together yet another great fundraiser for our hard working services in our community.’’

The club’s next big event will be its 40th birthday bash, also at The Plaza over the weekend of March 22 and 23.
