Non golfers get the bug

Twi­light golf at the Pu­taruru golf club is prov­ing a pop­u­lar way to spend Thurs­day af­ter­noon and evening.

‘‘ We had an­other great turn out on Thurs­day – 35 played. Most were non mem­bers,’’ twi­light golf or­gan­iser Ted Bain said.

In the non- golfers sec­tion Terry Sy­ben come in 1st, Mark Wo­gan was 2nd and Mike Sy­ben 3rd.

The golfers sec­tion was won by Rob­bie Wi, David Hoyte was 2nd and Kevin Ste­wart 3rd.

‘‘ Twi­light golf is great for the com­mu­nity it pro­vides a so­cial out­ing and gives non golfers a taste of golf,’’ Club Cap­tain Phillip said.

On Satur­day the first round of the Wall­ford Cup was played.

The bet­ter scores of the day were: 1st with a 66 net Hooky Howard, 2nd Joe McGee, 3rd Myke Flavell, 4th equal on 69 Mark Lawrence and Do­minic Mor­ris.

Fern Tay­lor with a net 67 won the ladies sec­tion.

Three twos scored. Ken Ste­wart on the 3rd and the 10th scored

Kens­ing­ton two of them, Phillip Bell made the third on the par 4 18th where, af­ter driv­ing the green, he one putted for his ea­gle.

Pu­taruru played round two of the Preb­ble cup against Hamil­ton on Sun­day.

They lost the match on a count­back.
