Non golfers get the bug
Twilight golf at the Putaruru golf club is proving a popular way to spend Thursday afternoon and evening.
‘‘ We had another great turn out on Thursday – 35 played. Most were non members,’’ twilight golf organiser Ted Bain said.
In the non- golfers section Terry Syben come in 1st, Mark Wogan was 2nd and Mike Syben 3rd.
The golfers section was won by Robbie Wi, David Hoyte was 2nd and Kevin Stewart 3rd.
‘‘ Twilight golf is great for the community it provides a social outing and gives non golfers a taste of golf,’’ Club Captain Phillip said.

On Saturday the first round of the Wallford Cup was played.
The better scores of the day were: 1st with a 66 net Hooky Howard, 2nd Joe McGee, 3rd Myke Flavell, 4th equal on 69 Mark Lawrence and Dominic Morris.
Fern Taylor with a net 67 won the ladies section.
Three twos scored. Ken Stewart on the 3rd and the 10th scored
Kensington two of them, Phillip Bell made the third on the par 4 18th where, after driving the green, he one putted for his eagle.
Putaruru played round two of the Prebble cup against Hamilton on Sunday.
They lost the match on a countback.
