Lady golfers enjoy mini scramble at Tokoroa
Lady golfers played a nine hole mini scramble on February 26, with Lorraine Gilbert, scoring a very respectable 23 points taking the honours. Jan Grange was second on countback over Heather Cox, when they scored 19 points each. Hazel Meredith has two 2s, and Heather one.
There was some hot scoring on Tuesday in the nett LGU Medal competition, with Judy Van Geest scoring a nine under handicap 63 to beat Shirley Buckley and Lorraine Gilbert with 65 nett, and Hazel Meredith on 63. Susan Goessi scored the only two of the day.
Malcolm Buckley was 12 under his handicap when he won the vets competition on Wednesday. Malcolm scored 48 points and was closely followed by Robin Ireland on 47 and Shane Griffiths on 44. Ra Pene and Denis Dugan shared the twos jackpot, while Malcolm Buckley and John Mapu had the longest putts on the 9th and 18th holes.
The President’s Cup was won in impressive fashion on Saturday by Nathaniel Cassidy. Playing in an unseasonally strong southerly wind, Cassidy, on a 5 handicap, had a gross 68 for a nett 63, (9 under handicap). Mike Fiddis was runner-up with 66 nett. This writer was also in the field and is not commenting on his score.
