Good rounds in golf com­pe­ti­tion

The be­gin­ning of the sec­ond round matches at the Pu­taruru Golf Club’s Pres­i­dents Cup and the monthly medal round was a good one.

The fea­ture match last week­end was the Pres­i­dent’s Cup match fea­tured de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Terry Gar­net and Rus­sell (Spotty) McCarthy who last week showed con­vinc­ing form in mak­ing it thought to round 2, af­ter 9 holes in their match against the team con­sist­ing of TTT Tro­phy win­ner David Cole­man and Brad­shaw Cup win­ner Phillip Bell the match was all square, at the 10 McCarthy made a birdie 2 to put his team 1 up by the 14th Bell & Cole­man had got back to all square, Col­man parred the long par 4 15th to see them go 1 up, Bell birdied the 16th the lead in­crease to 2, Cole­man pared the 17th clos­ing out the match for well de­served 3 & 1 vic­tory, on top of Bell’s team win was his in­di­vid­ual day’s play which se­cured the monthly medal ti­tle which means that come the end of the sea­son he will com­pete with other montly medal win­ners for the over­all monthly medal ti­tle. The day’s best scores were: Phillip Bell 66 nett, 2nd with 68 Spotty McCarthy, 3rd equal 69 Si­mon Den­holm & John Wood, 5th with 70 Ron­nie Tay­lor, 6th on 71 John Barr, Bren­don Edgar, and Eric Hill.

Next week’s fea­ture match will be the match be­tween An­drew & Adam Sadler verses Stephen Gar­land & Bren­don Welsh.
