Police request information on double stabbing
Tokoroa Police are investigating a double stabbing last Friday on Korimako Pl and want to speak to the occupants of a green Nissan Navara. Police said an altercation broke out between a group on the street and the occupants at an address on Korimako Pl about 10.30pm on Friday.
Two men aged 20 and 34 received moderate stab wounds and were admitted to Waikato Hospital.
They have since been discharged. Detective Sergeant Kevan Verry said three people had been charged with assault and had appeared at the Tokoroa District Court.
However investigations were still under way to try to identify those responsible for stabbing the men. ‘‘The inquiry team is particularly interested in speaking to the occupants of a green Nissan Navara utility vehicle that was seen by witnesses to drive along Korimako Pl when the incident was occurring, stop at the scene and speak to the victims of the stabbing before driving off,’’ Mr Verry said. ‘‘We need to speak to the utility occupants to help reconstruct the events of the night in an attempt to identify those responsible for the stabbings.’’
Anyone with information relevant to this investigation is asked to contact Tokoroa Police on 07 885 0123. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
