Postcard scam uses school name

South Waikato News - - NEWS -

A group of people are scamming residents into buying packs of postcards for $5 saying it is a fundraiser for a Tokoroa Intermediate camp. However school principal Russell Thompson said that is untrue.

‘‘Tokoroa Intermediate is not going on a camp to Wellington. These people are not doing this on behalf of Tokoroa Intermediate,’’ Mr Thompson said.

Senior Sergeant Graeme Hill of Tokoroa police described the matter as ‘‘fraudulent’’ and is encouraging locals to dial 111 if they are approached.

‘‘If the person selling the items does not have legitimate identification then don’t even look at it.’’
