Netballers learn umpiring skills
Tokoroa netballers are realising their potential and enjoying the umpiring classes on Wednesday nights at 7 pm.
A total of 55 players have attended the classes, and 28 have gained the Netball New Zealand Centre Theory Umpiring Award.
Passes include Nemesis ( 5 passes), Exusia (5), FVHS (4), Indecisive ( 3), Ko Tatou ( 3), Mangakino Hawkettes ( 2), United Force (2), Eagles (1), G Rok ( 1), SURF ( 1), Spartans Masters (5), and Purple Haze (1).
All umpires who have gained their theory passes will be coached about the protocols of the game, positioning on court and application of rules on court. After coaching these umpires will be assessed by Netball New Zealand Assessors Josef Brown, Maria Te Kanawa and Heather Williamson.
Umpires who have gained their Practical Award are: Sam Kaitai, Christina Ogle, Nicki Cooper, Chloe Punton, Te Paea Riki, Jean Teao, Tracey Morgan, Ann Hewitt, Te Ata Karauna and Lu Maea. Umpires who gain their Practical Award will be given the opportunity to start learning rules at a more complex level towards their Regional (Zone) Theory Award.
