Talent alert as search for Cossie Idol begins

South Waikato News - - ENTERTAINMENT -

The second round of Tokoroa Cosmopolitan Club’s Cossie Idol will be held this weekend.

This Saturday at 8pm, more amazing local singers and artists are expected to take to the stage to try to emulate the same success last year’s winner Cindy Herekuia had when she claimed the crown after performing Proud Mary.

Club secretary and manager Robyn Norman said that if last year’s competition was anything to go by, this year’s competition would be incredible.

‘‘It was massive. The talent in our town is amazing. I’m pleased I wasn’t a judge that’s for sure. Some of the entrants gave us goosebumps and some made us dance,’’ she said last week.

Entries are open and forms can be collected from the club’s bar.

‘‘Different aspects come into judging. It’s not just the voice but interaction with the crowd, stage presence and more. Honestly, I know that there is more talent out there and why not showcase it and with first prize at $1000, second prize at $500 and third prize at $300, it’s definitely worth a shot.’’

Under-18s can enter but must have their parents accompany them and sign the entry form conditions.
